KIRTAN: Mantra Meditation to Improve Quality of Life

  • Uprising Yoga Studio 199 Ferry Road Christchurch, Canterbury, 8011 New Zealand (map)

"Kirtan is a form of purification and liberation. The mantras sensitise us and polish away the clutter in our heads and melt the numbness in our hearts so that we can feel clear, awake and brilliantly alive."

(Quote from Sean Johnson who is a great kirtanist)

We are delighted to be able to meet together in person to experience the melting of the heart into the expansive space and the liberation of pure sounds that the practice of Kirtan brings!

Because of the vision and generosity of the management of Uprising Yoga Studio and in particular the Yoga Manager, Amaya, we are able to continue our practice of Kirtan on the second Friday of each month in the beautiful resonant space there.The.

The Mantra Meditation practice of Kirtan is a simple and powerful way to meditate through call and response singing. It is an effortless and joyful practice, that by-passes the mind and easily reaches the heart.

The ancient chants contain powerful renewing and transformative energy, that helps reconnect with the balance and goodness that resides within each of us.

No previous singing or chanting experience is needed.

Bring your heart, your voice and/or other instrument if you have one.
