Winter Solstice is arriving. It is time to connect with our most natural inner luminosity.
This Move Gently, Breathe, Chant and Shine Like Matariki for Peace is created for deepening the warmth and inner joy that can come from taking good care of oneself, not just physically, but also nourishing the more subtle dimensions of oneSelf.
You are invited to join the practices in the cosy Yoga practice at Southshore to touch our Matariki star-like nature.
Embracing this auspicious time of Winter Solstice and Matariki, the 2 hour afternoon practice with this Matariki theme will begin at 3.00pm with gentle supported nourishing restorative Āsana posture practices followed by Prānāyāma, deep relaxation Yoga Nidra as Meditation. How could one not shine like Matariki after this!?
Mantra Meditation practice will follow at 5.00pm with the chanting of Mahamrityunjaya. This allows expansion of connection with courage and transformation in the face of the challenges of life. We extend this resonance of the mantra to all beings to help grow our collective wellbeing, wisdom and compassion.
This practice will be followed by the mantra meditation practice of Kirtan from at 5.30pm to about 6.30pm. Kirtan is an easeful way to create a feeling of internal space, and freedom. The mantras sensitise us and polish away the clutter of the mind, gently melting any numbness in our hearts so that we can feel clear, awake and brilliantly alive.
Feel free to come to any part/s or all of the afternoon/evening.
Practices are followed by: shared plant based meal. (A nourishing vegan and gluten free meal will be provided. If you have capacity to bring food to share, wonderful but not essential.)
Time: 3.00 - 7.30/8.00pm

"It was found that during repetitive singing of kirtan,
the brain registers the sound waves, nada,
which influence all other wave patterns of the brain.
These waves awaken alpha rhythms which immediately induce tranquility.
Thus by singing kirtan, we experience peace of mind."
Swami Satyananda Saraswati
